Like the best blues and soul men before him, Keller learned his art firsthand from the masters: Mighty Sam McClain, Paul Rishell, Fontella Bass, and the late great Robert Ward. Participants stand & deliver well rehearsed, first-person, true, original stories from their own lives without using any notes or cue cards. This particular event will have a special theme in keeping with the concurrent Green Mountain Film Festival: "Acting." The theme is to be treated very broadly and incorporated as literally or figuratively as suits your story. Come by before or after your Monday movie! at 8:00 pm *In New York & other major cities, this type of event is known as "The Moth," which is a trademarked name.

Dixie Red Delights
The Dixie Red Delights are a new gathering of some of Vermont’s most talented musicians. Weaving a tapestry of sound around the formidable songwriting and vocals skills of Erin McDermott, the Delights create a unique sound of infectiously soaked fire-grass, steeped in rural Americana and ensconced in alt-country rock. Featuring the original music of Erin McDermott, who has shared the stage with likes of Grammy Award winner Tim O’Brien and cult favorites Railroad Earth. A keen observer of the human experience, Erin has gathered countless stories about intriguing characters through her many adventures. Whether writing about historical figures with mordant humor, expressing tender strength and sophistication or reaching toward light hearted enthusiasm, Erin possesses a powerful gift for communicating her life stories through song. Local Legend Doug Perkins, is best known for his work with Smokin' Grass and for his duet performances with mandolinist Jamie Masefield as well as, performances with greats such as Vassar Clements, Mike Gordon, Jon Fishman, and Leftover Salmon. With his stylistically precise leads and intricate melodies, Doug's distinctive guitar style provides an essential rhythmic and harmonic layer to the Dixie Red Delights. Jen Wells, accompanies the Delights on bass with her rhythmically creative and jubilant bass lines. Jen has a vast knowledge of the music, creating perfect rhythms to add to the Delights sound. Ben Roy is the finest young talent on drums in Vermont. With impeccable timing, unmatched energy and marvelously exciting rhythms Ben is the key melodic component . Sitting in on Mandolin is the brilliant and inspiring playing of Matt Schrag. Matt has a way of conveying the most subtle yet dynamic leads on his instrument and has enjoyed success with number of bands in and around New England. A true Delight!

Hot Seats
The band’s first release highlights the band’s flexibility, moving between bluegrass, ragtime, oldtime, jugband, and Klezmer with ease, injecting humor and sharp witted commentary along the way. Featuring a mixture of original songs and tunes (including the part song, part theatrics “Sleepover Party”, a live favorite for years) and traditionals pulled from the depths of the public domain, Retreat to Camp Candy Island is evidence of the band’s dedication to treat stringband music as a modern form, open to current themes and sensibilities, as well as a tradition that is deserving of preservation

Two Man Gentlemen Band
The Two Man Gentlemen Band’s original brand of raucous, retro vaudevillian swing is fast becoming an underground sensation. Three short years ago, The Gentlemen were playing marathon sets for tips in New York City’s parks and subways. These days, they traverse the country incessantly, playing hundreds of shows per year for legions of dedicated fans and even catching the attention of big-names like Bob Dylan & Willie Nelson, for whom The Gents opened a handful of shows last summer. The Gentlemen’s memorable, pithy compositions combine the sounds of hot jazz, vintage rhythm & blues, and tin-pan alley with boundless energy and enthusiasm. Andy Bean pounds out intricate, rapid-fire chord changes and melodies on an assortment of antique 4-string guitars and banjos. Bassist Fuller Condon dances around the fingerboard with a punchy, driving style that renders a drummer unnecessary. Their “keen vocal harmonies” (The New Yorker) recall 20s and 30s groups like the Mills Brothers and The Cats & The Fiddle while their lyrics are “so off the beaten path as to be virtually cliche free.” (Bluegrass Journal) Few other songwriters so deftly address such a wide range of topics; from the familiar – love, fancy beer, reefer – to the utterly peculiar – William Howard Taft, mathematics, rabbit meat. The Two Man Gentlemen Band’s live show – honed by three years of barnstorming from coast to coast – is an absolute must-see.
